My wife and I are snowbirds and arrived in January.
She experienced health issues and we found it necessary to visit an emergency room. Due to recent articles in the Green Valley News/Sahuarita Sun about the financial situation at Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital, I was reluctant to use the facility. But I didn’t want to drive to Tucson so decided to take a chance. I’m glad I did.
We found the ER personnel to be extremely efficient and professional. While I am not qualified to speak to the financial health of the organization, there did not seem to be a shortage of quality medical staff, medical supplies or support resources, such as X-ray and labs.
Everyone involved with the hospital was professional, efficient and caring. I was told that the hospital is now operating in the black but have no way to verify that. What I can say is that everything about the facility indicates a positive nature, not one of failure or distress. I have complete confidence in the organization.
