The Pima County School Superintendent's Office is accepting applications for the vacant Sahuarita Unified School District board position until July 12.
Board member Dalia Zimmerman gave up her seat effective June 3. Applicants must be at least 18, a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and have lived within the SUSD for at least one year.
The Continental Elementary School District is also in the process of replacing a board member. Board member Ralph Nickl resigned after moving to Tucson.
The two candidates who applied for the position will be interviewed in early July by a six-member panel comprised of teachers, parents and community members selected by Superintendent Roxana Rico.
Pima County School Superintendent Dustin Williams will select one of the candidates based on the panel's recommendation.
A similar panel, chosen by SUSD Superintendent Manny Valenzuela and board president John Sparks, will vet the SUSD candidates and submit a recommendation to Williams.
