Fraud case

A Green Valley resident who thought he was buying a puppy was the victim of fraud instead.

According to a Pima County Sheriff's Department report, the resident told deputies Thursday that he sent $500 to "Joy puppies" through Western Union expecting to get a puppy, but realized he'd been scammed when he received an email saying he needed to send another $850 to ship the dog.

During their investigation, deputies researched the website the victim found the ad on and found several postings stating the website was a fraud.
