A Sahuarita woman came close to losing $1,200 in IRS scam earlier this month.

Sahuarita Police Sgt. Michael Falquez said the woman received a phone call from someone claiming to be an IRS agent on Oct. 3. The caller informed her she owed $1,200 that needed to be paid immediately.

The intended victim went to the Wells Fargo on South Nogales Highway to transfer the funds, but a bank clerk froze the account because they realized the woman was being scammed, Falquez said.
